Have you wanted a website of your own but never knew where to begin?
Many people delay building a website because the first step feels technical. Hosting, themes, plugins, and menus can seem like a lot to learn at once.
In practice, WordPress lets you build a working site in a single sitting once someone shows you the path.
At WordCamp Islamabad 2026 Contributor Day, this hands-on workshop takes you from an empty install to a simple, working website. You will build alongside the facilitators on your own laptop, one step at a time.
No coding experience is needed. You will leave with real pages, a working menu, and the confidence to keep building after the event.
What You’ll Learn
- How WordPress Works: The basic building blocks of a WordPress site and how they fit together.
- Finding Your Way Around: A guided tour of the dashboard, so you know where everything lives.
- Pages and Posts: The difference between the two, and when to use each.
- Themes and the Site Editor: Choosing a theme and adjusting your header, footer, and layout.
- Building with Blocks: Creating Home, About, and Contact pages using the block editor.
- Menus and Plugins: Setting up navigation and adding features safely with plugins.
