Call for Mentors

A question about finding a first client. An idea that needs direction. A career decision that feels difficult to make alone.

Sometimes, a conversation with someone who has been there can help.

We’re introducing Mentor Connect at WordCamp Islamabad 2026, a space for short, one-to-one conversations between attendees and industry professionals. We’re inviting mentors who are willing to share their experience, listen, and help others move forward.

What is Mentor Connect?

Mentor Connect gives students, early-career professionals, freelancers, and aspiring founders an opportunity to book a focused conversation with someone who has relevant experience.

Attendees can bring a question, discuss a challenge, or explore an idea. Together, the mentor and attendee can work towards a practical next step.

It could be guidance on finding clients, developing a skill, building a product, running an agency, or making a first contribution to WordPress.

Who can become a mentor?

We welcome professionals with practical experience in areas such as:

  • WordPress development and technical careers
  • Design, UI, and UX
  • Freelancing and finding clients
  • Agency growth and operations
  • Product management and strategy
  • Marketing, SEO, and content
  • E-commerce and online businesses
  • Startups and entrepreneurship
  • AI and automation
  • Open-source contributions
  • Career development and leadership

You don’t need a particular job title or previous formal mentoring experience. What matters is having useful experience to share and a willingness to support others.

What will you do as a mentor?

You’ll volunteer your time for short, focused conversations with attendees. During each conversation, you’ll:

  • Listen to the attendee’s question and understand their situation.
  • Share relevant experiences, including lessons from things that didn’t go as planned.
  • Help them consider their options.
  • Suggest a realistic next step or useful resource.

You don’t need to have every answer. Being honest about what you know, asking thoughtful questions, and offering a fresh perspective can be valuable.

These conversations should be welcoming, respectful, and focused on the attendee’s needs, in line with the WordCamp Code of Conduct.

Why share your experience?

The lessons that feel familiar to you may be exactly what someone else needs.

You may remember how uncertain your first project, client conversation, or career decision felt. Sharing what you learned can help someone approach their own next step with more clarity.

Mentor Connect is an opportunity to give back to the community through your time and experience, while meeting people who bring new questions and perspectives.

How to apply

Tell us about your background, the topics you can help with, and your availability through the mentor application form.

The organizing team will review applications and contact shortlisted mentors to confirm the session format and schedule. This is a voluntary opportunity.

WordCamp Islamabad 2026 takes place on 24–25 October 2026.
